My shopping list for this fall started coming together last February during a month of 13-hour days that had me running from showroom to showroom. The benefit of seeing everything in advance is that, by the time the merchandise arrives, I’ve already had months to contemplate my purchases. This week as I was going over all my snapshots (as well as some “new arrival” additions from Barneys.com), I began to get into the autumn mood.
My selections all have a classic undertone, which is typical for me, but I plan to shake things up with animal print and texture: leopard, lace and shearling included. My dress silhouette is more ladylike than it has been in a while, but for outerwear, I’m liking a tomboy-inspired baseball jacket. These Walter Steiger boots are my fashion “trend” indulgence for the season. The early ’90s shape looks so right again, and I’m not the only one who thinks so — we saw many odes to Steiger’s shoes on this fall’s runways. But isn’t it more fun to have the real thing?
My one “in my dreams” item is a cross fox fur vest by The Row. While the price tag will probably prove prohibitive for me, I can’t bring myself to remove it from my wish list. Maybe one of you can buy it so I can live vicariously through you?
